Rainy days can be a drag, especially for young children who are stuck inside all day. But with a little creativity and some indoor activities, rainy days can be just as fun as sunny ones.

Here are ten rainy day activities for preschoolers to help them stay entertained and engaged:

Make a fort — Use blankets, pillows, and chairs to create a cozy hideaway for your child. This activity encourages creativity and helps your child practice problem-solving skills.

Play dress-up — Dig out your child's old costumes or let them create their own outfits using whatever they can find around the house. Dress-up play allows children to use their imagination and express themselves.

With 30+ years in early childhood as a teacher and director, she led Temple Isaiah Preschool from 2003 to 2023, where she earned NAEYC accreditation and built an award-winning STEM program. Her work inspired her son Daniel to build Playground. She also teaches at UCLA Extension and Santa Monica College and speaks internationally on early childhood education.
