10 Science Activities for Preschoolers

Science is all around us and preschoolers are natural scientists! They are curious about their environment and love to explore. In this blog post, we will share 10 simple science activities for preschoolers. These activities are fun, engaging, and best of all- educational!

  1. Make an Ice Volcano - Fill a cup with water, add food coloring and place it in the freezer. When it is frozen solid, place it in a baking dish, add baking soda and watch the ice volcano erupt!

  2. Make Cloud Dough – Combine 8 cups of flour with 1 cup of oil and mix until blended. You can also add glitter for a sparkly effect!

  3. Create Colorful Flowers – Cut construction paper into flower shapes. Using a pipette or eye dropper, fill it with water and food coloring to create colorful flowers that preschoolers can admire!

  4. Build a Bird Feeder – Gather some twigs and wrap them around a cup or bowl with peanut butter in the middle. Hang it from a tree outside and preschoolers can watch birds feed all day!

  5. Grow a Bean Plant – Soak dry beans overnight and let preschoolers grow them in a jar with potting soil. Once the bean sprouts, preschoolers can observe the science of how plants grow!

  6. Make an Egg Float – Fill a cup with water and add a few drops of food coloring. Place an egg in the middle and preschoolers will be amazed to watch it float!

  7. Create an Erupting Snowman – Fill a cup with baking soda and add a few drops of food coloring. Place a snowman figurine in the cup, sprinkle over some vinegar and watch it erupt!

  8. Grow Crystals – Combine water and Borax powder in a cup and stir until dissolved. Place pipe cleaners inside the cup to form shapes and preschoolers can observe as the crystals grow!

  9. Inflate a Balloon With Air – Fill a balloon with air using only your breath and preschoolers will be amazed to watch it expand.

  10. Make a Rainbow – Fill three glasses with water and add food coloring. Place them in the sunlight and preschoolers will be able to observe a rainbow in the sky!
