Four Schools Across Virginia and Georgia
First Discovery Children’s Academy has operated since 2010 and now runs 4 schools: Rosemont and Indian River in Virginia Beach, Oyster Point in Newport News, Virginia, and Acworth, Georgia. Schools open at 6:00 a.m. (6:30 a.m. in Acworth) and close at 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Classrooms run from infants (6 weeks to 16 months) and toddlers through junior preschool, preschool, and Pre-K, plus school-age care and summer camp for children ages 5 to 12.
STREAMin3® Curriculum and Conscious Discipline
First Discovery uses the STREAMin3® curriculum, organized around monthly themes and hands-on activities, with two STEAM projects a month in preschool and Pre-K. Teachers use Conscious Discipline to help children learn emotional regulation, and each child has a personalized learning plan backed by ongoing assessment.
The day also includes baby sign language, Spanish instruction, daily yoga and soccer, field trips, and in-house cultural visitors. Meals and snacks are included, and every school is peanut-free. Buildings have fenced play yards, fob-access doors, and cameras.
Ages served: 6 weeks through 12 years.
