Lighthouse Bilingual Academy has served Garland, Texas, since 2004. The nonprofit school is licensed for 68 children and draws families from Garland, Rowlett, Sachse, and nearby Dallas County cities.
Classes run from 8:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with before- and after-school care from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (after-school care costs extra). Programs cover Pre-K2, Pre-K3, Pre-K4, kindergarten, and first grade, plus a summer camp.
English, Spanish, and the Gospel
Teachers are fluent in English and Spanish, and children learn in both languages. The curriculum covers Bible, phonics, math, and gardening, with art and music as enrichment classes.
Lighthouse builds its whole program on the principle that all knowledge is given by God. It pairs early childhood teaching methods with the Gospel, works Biblical teaching into everyday learning activities, and sets aside specific time for learning the Gospel. The stated goal is to nourish children’s minds and bodies and their hearts.

The Playground team has combined decades of experience in the child care industry, ranging from care itself to business management to subsidy administration to strategic marketing. In addition to creating a variety of free resources for the child care industry, the Playground team produces Early Childhood Investigations webinars to help child care directors and teachers earn professional development credit and valuable experience. Additionally, founders Daniel Andrews and Sasha Reiss co-authored the book “More Than Tuition: Financial Leadership and Growth Marketing for Early Childhood Programs” and frequently speak at industry events including for NECPA, NCCA, AELL, and soon NAEYC.
