An Italian immersion school in Southeast Portland
StudioLingua is a licensed nonprofit Italian-language preschool and kindergarten on SE 16th Avenue in Portland, Oregon. It opened in 2023 and is licensed for 38 children ages 3 to 6.
The school runs full-time preschool and kindergarten programs from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexible schedules, and sets tuition on a sliding scale by family income.
Italian immersion, inspired by Reggio Emilia
Children learn in Italian alongside multicultural activities. The program is Reggio Emilia inspired: child-led, play-based, and built on respect, responsibility, and community. StudioLingua also uses The Creative Curriculum and commits to anti-bias practices.
An atelier stocked with paint, clay, paper, fabric, and natural materials gives children space for their own long-running projects.
Ages served: 3 through 6 years (preschool and kindergarten).

CACFP / CCDF: StudioLingua does not participate in CACFP or accept child care subsidy. It offers income-based tuition instead.

The Playground team has combined decades of experience in the child care industry, ranging from care itself to business management to subsidy administration to strategic marketing. In addition to creating a variety of free resources for the child care industry, the Playground team produces Early Childhood Investigations webinars to help child care directors and teachers earn professional development credit and valuable experience. Additionally, founders Daniel Andrews and Sasha Reiss co-authored the book “More Than Tuition: Financial Leadership and Growth Marketing for Early Childhood Programs” and frequently speak at industry events including for NECPA, NCCA, AELL, and soon NAEYC.
