The Children’s Center of Austin (CCOA) opened in 1999. Its Northwest Austin campus on Jester Boulevard is licensed for 175 children from 2 months to 12 years old.
The campus has a swimming pool, a gym, a library, an art studio, and an iLab for STEM, along with shaded playgrounds and controlled-access entry. Programs run from infants through Pre-K, with after-school care for kindergarten through fifth grade and a summer camp for ages 6 to 10.
Play plus intentional teaching: the CCOA Way
CCOA believes a love of learning starts early, and that children do best when they feel safe, valued, and connected to teachers who understand their needs. Its approach combines learning through play with intentional teaching and hands-on exploration, and the theme-based curriculum is planned month by month.
Language, literacy, math, science, art, movement, and everyday routines all become chances to build curiosity, creativity, confidence, and independence. Teachers support children’s social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth and work with families to prepare children for school. CCOA calls this the CCOA Way.

The Playground team has combined decades of experience in the child care industry, ranging from care itself to business management to subsidy administration to strategic marketing. In addition to creating a variety of free resources for the child care industry, the Playground team produces Early Childhood Investigations webinars to help child care directors and teachers earn professional development credit and valuable experience. Additionally, founders Daniel Andrews and Sasha Reiss co-authored the book “More Than Tuition: Financial Leadership and Growth Marketing for Early Childhood Programs” and frequently speak at industry events including for NECPA, NCCA, AELL, and soon NAEYC.
