A Jewish early childhood center in Portland, Oregon

The Gan Preschool, also known as Portland Jewish Preschool, has served families on SW Capitol Highway in Portland, Oregon, since 2010. It is licensed for 55 children from 6 months to 5 years old.

Alongside its preschool program, The Gan hosts a Mommy & Me group on the first Friday of each month, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.

Inspired by Reggio Emilia and Montessori

The Gan takes inspiration from the Reggio Emilia and Montessori philosophies, so children learn by exploring, choosing, and doing. Learning follows the Jewish calendar: children build a sukkah and explore the lulav and etrog for Sukkot, study the story of Jonah for Yom Kippur, and make honey-themed art for Rosh Hashanah. Summers bring water play and gardening outdoors.

Ages served: 6 months through 5 years.

Religious affiliation: Jewish.
