Intergenerational Care in Alma, Kansas
The Heritage Home opened in 2023 in Alma, Kansas, as an intergenerational campus: it combines senior living, including Home Plus assisted living, with a licensed child care program in the same building. Children and seniors share planned activities, which the program says benefits both age groups.
The program is family-owned by Erin and Joe Steele and Brenda and Rick Steele, and is licensed for 60 children from birth to age 6.
Faith-Based Care, Christ at the Center
The Heritage Home is a Christian program. Its care model is based on biblical teaching about caring for, loving, and serving others, and its stated mission is to put Christ at the center of its work while giving compassionate, dignified care to every generation it serves, from infants to elders.
Ages served: Birth through 6 years.
Religious affiliation: Christian.
